What is jayathi y. murthy?

Jayathi Y. Murthy is an Indian-American Mechanical and Aerospace engineer, currently serving as the Chancellor of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She was born on July 26, 1964, in Bangalore, India. Murthy received her Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and her Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Before joining UCLA, Murthy was the Dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has also taught at Carnegie Mellon University and Purdue University, and served as a Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, in Switzerland and at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.

Murthy is known for her research in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and heat transfer, with a particular focus on energy transport in turbulent combustion and multiphase flows. She has authored or co-authored over 250 technical papers in these fields and has received numerous honors and awards for her research and contributions to the field of mechanical engineering.

In addition to her academic career, Murthy is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a Fellow of the Combustion Institute. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Sutter Health and is a member of the Strategic Innovation Advisory Council for Dubai.
